CSUF Healthcare Experts Collaborating to Tackle Substance AbuseA team of CSUF nursing, social work and human services faculty are working together to train students to screen for Substance Use Disorders (SUDs).Through a $258,823 grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), a federal agency in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the program's first year will fund a "SBIRT" (screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment) training program, a standardized procedure developed by SAMHSA to identify drug and alcohol abuse.Continue reading in the Orange County Register.
