Around one in every 14 children in care in Gloucestershire has a substance misuse problem.According to figures from the Department for Education, the county is one of the worst areas in the UK for substance abuse among children in care.Around seven per cent of the 330 children who were continuously looked after by Gloucestershire council for at least 12 months as of March this year were identified as having a substance misuse problem.

Private equity giant Riverside, which has an office in Dallas, is the latest investor to acquire a substance abuse treatment center even as lawmakers are poised to dismantle the 2010 health care reform that has boosted the clinic business.Riverside bought Lakeview Health from another Dallas private equity firm Trinity Hunt Partners, the firms announced Monday.The clinic is based in Jacksonville, Fla., and operates two centers with 273 beds.
