Subiaco fire sparked by resident smoking in bed
A resident smoking in bed has sparked a blaze inside a Perth unit on Monday night. According to the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, the blaze inside the Subiaco unit started accidentally around 7pm. Fire crews found smoke coming from the Subiaco Road unit on arrival, with one person suffering smoke inhalation at the scene. Firefighters extinguished the blaze in less than an hour. That person was treated by paramedics and sustained only minor injuries.

UPDATE: Scottsbluff Fire officials are saying the blaze that destroyed a house on west 24th Street Saturday appears to have been accidentally caused by the careless discard of smoking materials. Murphy says the department wants to remind the public to properly discard smoking materials, and to make sure homes and businesses have multiple exits in case of a fire.
