NYACK, N.Y. -- A local group is hoping to clear up a lot of misconceptions about young people and substance abuse at a public forum in Nyack next month.The Our Community Against addiction Abuse (OCADA) event, which will feature a panel of experts, is set for Thursday, Jan. 17, at Nyack Seaport, 21 Burd St.The town hall-style event is titled: "A Perfect Storm: Battling Misconceptions and the Health Crisis of Underage Drinking and Substance Use Disorders Among Youth."It is one of several OCADA plans to host in 2017.

Since Kentucky's Medicaid expansion in 2014, far more people are receiving treatment for Marijuana and heroin addiction than before.That's according to a report released Wednesday by the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky.The report shows a 740 percent increase in substance abuse services for Medicaid expansion beneficiaries.
